The challenge

The challenge

Credit is built on trust. In decentralised finance, trust is visible in transaction data but not always easy to interpret.

Spectral was building a protocol for on-chain credit scoring: a way to help users carry a portable reputation across decentralised finance. The concept was powerful, but it needed language that could connect protocol mechanics to an intuitive, real-world idea.

My role

My role

I advised on early product positioning and storytelling, helping turn a complex set of on-chain signals into a narrative that customers, partners, and investors could understand.

What we did

What we did

Found the familiar reference point

Credit score is a concept people already understand. We used that familiarity carefully, positioning the product as a decentralised and transparent version of a system that typically sits behind closed doors.

Made the product’s stakes clear

The narrative focused on what portable on-chain reputation could enable: better access, more relevant financial products, and a system where users’ behaviour can create value for them.

Outcome

Outcome

Spectral developed a sharper way to communicate a new financial primitive to a broad market, helping make the category legible as it grew.

What I learned

A category-defining story often begins with a familiar metaphor, then earns the right to show how the new model is different.
